Lexington Two grads post gains on ACT college exam

WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Lexington Two’s Class of 2019 graduates who took the ACT test posted year-over-year gains, according to results released by the college admissions test provider.


The district’s high school graduates who took the ACT averaged 17.8 overall in 2019, up from 17.4 the year before.  


Overall, South Carolina made ACT gains, bucking a national trend. "Despite the national decline illustrated in ACT's College and Career Readiness report, South Carolina made significant gains from 2018," State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman said in a news release.


Lexington Two’s ACT increase follows the district’s ranking among the top 10 SC public school districts earning the highest average scores on the SAT college-entrance exam.

 

Lexington Two’s Class of 2019 test-takers outperformed state and national averages.

 

The average SAT score for Lexington Two is 1051 -- 30 points higher than the South Carolina average of 1021 and 12 points higher than the national average of 1039.  It also is 25 points higher than the district average in 2018. 

 

The latest achievements of Lexington Two’s Class of 2019 come on top of a district record $17,421,140 in scholarships. The roughly 450 graduates are today attending more than 60 US colleges and universities.
