NEW: Round 2 P-EBT benefits available to qualifying students

NOTE: A Spanish language video about P-EBT is included with this story.

P-EBT is a benefit to help supplement family food costs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and prolonged school schedule changes.

Lexington Two participates in the National School Lunch Program. As a result, K-12 students in Lexington Two, who were approved for free or reduced lunch, are potentially eligible to receive P-EBT.

For students to be paid P-EBT benefits, the school schedule must be altered by 5 days and students must attend school virtually 100% or on a hybrid schedule. Students will receive P-EBT for days of virtual attendance after the 5-day threshold is met. The P-EBT card benefit cannot be transferred to anyone else or used by someone outside your household.

All P-EBT benefits will be mailed out on new SNAP cards. The first payment will be issued in April 2021.

If students do not receive P-EBT benefits and you feel they should have, please contact the Lexington Two nutrition office at (803) 739-4010 to determine the student’s free or reduced status. If the student is free or reduced, then an eligibility letter should be obtained and emailed to DSS at [email protected].

For all eligible household child(ren), a P-EBT card will be mailed to the address on file with your child’s school district. The first P-EBT payment will happen at the end March 2021. Please allow a minimum of 14 business days for card delivery. No further action is required on your part to receive your P-EBT benefit.

Is your address on file correct?

DSS will open an address portal to change incorrect addresses once the first PEBT cards are issued near the end of March. Addresses must be changed in the portal for the card to be mailed to the correct address. All households with potentially eligible students are strongly encouraged to validate their address in the DSS P-EBT Address Portal on or before March 19, 2021. The address portal can be found at https://benefitsportal.dss.sc.gov/#/pebt/addressverification. Addresses can only be changed by the legal guardian of the child(ren). The parent/legal guardian must enter the last name, DOB, Student Number, School District, and the School Name to review or change the address on file. All address issues will be handled through DSS.
