BC announces new competitive cheer team coach

WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Brookland-Cayce High School has selected Cory Karl as its new competitive cheer team coach.

Karl brings six years of cheer team coaching experience, along with more than a decade of stunt and tumble coaching. She most recently served as head varsity cheer coach at Ben Lippen School, where the team won back-to-back 4A SCISA State Championships. She also served as an assistant varsity coach at Ben Lippen. Prior to that, Karl spent four years at Meadow Glen Middle School in Lexington 1, where she was head coach and program director, coaching the school’s first competitive cheer team and posting three winning seasons. 

Karl received a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of South Carolina, where she was a member of the cheer team on athletic scholarship and was selected an All-American for two years. She was also a member of the co-ed team in 2011 that placed 4th at College Nationals, as well as the all-female team that placed 3rd in 2012.

“Coach Karl brings a wealth of championship experience and knowledge to our competitive cheer team,” said Brookland-Cayce Principal Dr. Vance Jones. “We are confident that she will help our competitive cheerleading squad become a championship contender year after year.”
