Track and field athlete signs letter of intent

WEST COLUMBIA, SC – An elite track and field athlete at Brookland-Cayce High School has committed to compete in his sport at the collegiate level.

Rising senior Aden Price signed a letter of intent Monday with Charleston Southern University. Price cemented his legacy this past season by claiming the title of 2025 South Carolina High School League 400m State Champion, whose time of 47.16 seconds marked the fastest in the state and 46th among all seniors nationwide. He also competed in the 100m and 200m events at the State Championship, as well as at the USATF U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, and he qualified as a USATF Junior Olympics National Finalist in the 400m. He received a designation of All-American from the USATF Junior Olympics.

“Signing with Charleston Southern is a dream come true,” Price said. “I’m thankful for the support of my coaches, teammates, family, and the Brookland-Cayce community. I’m excited to keep growing as a student-athlete and help CSU compete at the highest level.”

Brookland-Cayce Track and Field coaches Ernest Logan and Alan Alvarez Sr. praised Price’s discipline and leadership:  “Aden is not only a phenomenal athlete, but also a dedicated student and a great teammate. His work ethic and character set him apart, and Charleston Southern is getting a true competitor and leader.”

Price participated in a signing ceremony in the school’s arena, attended by coaches, family, and friends.
