South Carolina Graduation Requirements:
 
English/Language Arts
   4 Credits
Mathematics    4 Credits
Science    3 Credits
US History & Constitution    1 Credit
U.S. Government    1/2 Credit
Economics    1/2 Credit
Other Social Studies    1 Credit
Personal Finance
* This is a new requirements that begins with the graduating class of 2027
   1/2 Credit
Physical Education or Junior ROTC
* If ROTC is taken instead of PE, Personal Health must also be taken
    1 Credit
Computer Science    1 Credit
World Language or Career & Technology    1 Credit
Electives    7 Credits
   
TOTAL    24 Credits
 
 
4-Year College Requirements
Most 4-Year Colleges have the following minimum requirements.
  • At least one math credit above Algebra 2 (this can include Prob & Stats, Discrete Math, Pre-Calculus, etc.)
  • At least 3 lab science credits 
  • At least two credits in the same foreign language
  • At least one fine-arts credit (Art, Music, Theatre, etc)
 
*Students should research each college's specific requirements including GPA, Test Scores, etc.
 
 
Promotion Requirements:
 
Sophomore, 10th Grade
To be classified as a sophomore, students must have earned a minimum of:
  • 1 English Credit
  • 1 Math Credit
  • Total of 5 Credits
 
Junior, 11th Grade
To be classified as a junior, students must have earned a minimum of:
  • 2 English Credits
  • 2 Math Credits
  • 1 Science Credit
  • Total of 11 Credits
 
Senior, 12th Grade
To be classified as a senior, students must have earned a minimum of:
  • 3 English Credits
  • 3 Math Credits
  • 2 Science Credits
  • Total of 17 Credits
